Community Outreach
Palace’s commitment to Building Better Lives is well evidenced in the ongoing volunteer efforts of the company and individual staff members. Involvements are guided by a 10-member Community Outreach council. Materials funding for donated work comes in great part from the company-sponsored annual golf tournament fundraiser which brings together Palace staff, with vendors, clients and friends. Three examples reflect the scope of outreach efforts:
- Elitch Gardens Theatre. The people of Palace are active partners in the multi-phase effort to restore this historic structure. Recognized as the nation’s first summer stock theatre and the site of Denver’s first movie showing, the Theatre has been closed since 1987. Palace’s pro bono assistance has been key to the roof and shoring tasks of the first phase of reconstruction. The second phase will renovate the interior of the auditorium.
- Katrina Relief. When Katrina struck the Gulf Coast, the response of Palace staff was immediate and multi-faceted. More than $20,000 was raised through the annual golf tournament to assist in the recovery. Hearts went out to the many pets affected, as well, resulting in a truckload of dog food, bleach and blankets being delivered to the Denver Dumb Friends League.
- Habitat for Humanity. Palace has taken a lead role in renovating two houses for underprivileged families in northeast Denver. In addition to helping rebuild the homes, Palace people have worked closely with subcontractors to secure appliances, materials and more.
