Safety
Workplace safety is at the forefront of every Palace engagement and the focus of an integrated, incentive-driven training and monitoring system. In fact, the risk-reduction program we have implemented and maintain so closely is considerably more aggressive than is customary among construction companies of our size and scope.
The benefits, however, are clear. By providing our employees and subcontractors a safer workplace, we are able to maximize productivity, enhance the quality of our craftsmanship and keep projects on schedule. Insurance costs are reduced, with the savings passed on to our customers. And the caliber of the working environment created enables us to attract and retain top personnel.
Hourly employees are actively engaged in the Palace safety mindset from Day One and must attend monthly safety updates. Mandatory, on-site safety orientation sessions are conducted at the start of each new commercial project with weekly “tool-box talks” held to address issues specific to each project phase. Moreover, workers are rewarded financially for identifying opportunities for safety enhancement, which promotes the positive behavior that prevents accidents.
Palace’s enforcement protocols also facilitate and enforce subcontractors’ safety compliance. Lists of qualified and certified personnel are carefully monitored. And representatives from our insurance carriers regularly visit our job sites to provide third-party verification of the efficacy of our procedures.
The net effect is a proactive approach to safety that benefits our people and our partners.
